Fraction Action!

 We are wrapping up our unit on Geometry and diving head first into fractions.  I remember as a kid, fractions were so difficult for me to wrap my head around.  Because of this, I really try to teach fractions in a way that is memorable and understandable.  Honestly, I try to teach everything this way, but there is something about fractions that can cause a kink in our (my) brain. 

Geometry standards have the largest amount of questions on the FSA, so we will definitely be reviewing and discussing those skills.  Especially since so many of those type questions are recall type answers.  


Here's a quick rundown of what we'll be learning for the next few weeks.

We're Sticking with Geometry

Happy New Year!  Wow!  Can you believe we're already finished with half of the school year?  It's definitely been an adventure so far.  

I'd like to start with a little song.... sung to the tune of your choosing.  

🎵"Using protractors, learning and applying vocabulary, analyzing angles, analyzing 2D and 3D shapes, finding lines of symmetry and discussing and analyzing triangles, oh my!  This is all of the things I am going to try. 🎶  Ok.  I'll stick with teaching.  

We've already started reviewing what we've covered before break, and we'll continue working on the rest of the 4th grade geometry standards.  (I'll list those below so you know exactly what the kiddos need to know by the time we are finished with the unit.)  

There are a lot of skills and vocabulary that the students must learn, but we'll break it down in a memorable way.
